To understand
Anne's art, first she makes the fabric, and only then decides what to do
with it. Her fabrics may be handwoven from cotton, wool, silk, linen or
anything else that strikes her creative fancy. She also dyes and prints
existing fabrics, including upcycled from the closet, old bedsheets, or
newly minted from a fabric store. She uses natural dyes and plants, many
from around her house and garden, though some have been shipped by
friends to her from across the country.
Anne has been involved in fiber for over 40
years. Once she retired from a career as an archeologist in Alaska and
the desert southwest she decided to spend her new free time focusing on
fiber and starting a business. For the first 6 years she dyed yarns and
fibers but now she specializes in finished fabrics and has developed a
passion for making all kinds of bags. From her fabric she makes purses,
totes and larger project bags for folks who need a place to stash their
own fiber projects. She also creates wall hangings, towels, garments and
other items that are functional, not purely decorative - but always
beautifully hand crafted.
On Saturday between 2 and 4 she will be
demonstrating weaving, and on Sunday, between 2 and 4 botanical
printing.
