"Uniting Nature's Elegance with Timeless Craftsmanship"

My artistry combines creativity with the beauty of nature, resulting in pieces that harmoniously blend the wild with the crafted. Delve into the world of gourds, where creativity knows no bounds and the wonders of nature are celebrated in all their glory. Come see an inspiring and unique collection of creations that pay homage to this inherent beauty, the humble gourd, and its timeless allure.

SHAPE - COLORS – TEXTURE are at the heart of Janice's artistic exploration. She invites you to discover the gourd as a vessel of fine art—an organic form brimming with creative possibilities. Much like wood, a gourd can be carved or wood-burned, yet it also offers a canvas for painting, dyeing, and embellishment. Incorporating precious stones, beads, feathers, leather, found objects, clay, fiber, and pine needles, Janice transforms each piece into a fusion of natural beauty and artistic expression. By cutting and sculpting, she reimagines the gourd's form, intertwining it with diverse materials to create one-of-a-kind works. Her journey into gourd art began in 2002 after encountering inspiring pieces in Northern California. Drawing from her passion for Native American art, she crafts a broad spectrum of interpretations, from indigenous influences to contemporary motifs.

Initially self-taught through books and videos, Janice has expanded her expertise by learning from master artists in gourd art and beyond. This continuous evolution of skills and techniques is evident in her distinctive vision and meticulous craftsmanship.

Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast seeking to expand your collection or a newcomer eager to explore the wonders of gourds, I invite you see my art on the Studio Tour this year.
